No. 5 Maryland Women’s Basketball team wins Big Ten Title

WASHINGTON — The fifth-ranked Maryland women’s basketball team clinched the Big Ten title Saturday night with three games remaining in the regular season.

The Terps got a taste of a share of the Big Ten title with an 81-70 win at Wisconsin Thursday.  But with Ohio State’s win over No. 13 Iowa Saturday, the Terrapins took sole possession of the conference championship in their first year in the Big Ten league.

There will be a trophy presentation on the court following the Terrapins’ game vs. Penn State Monday night at 7 p.m. at the XFINITY Center.

The Terps have won 18 straight games since the beginning of December, including 15 straight in conference play.
