New York Times columnist David Carr dies

WASHINGTON — The New York Times has announced that media columnist David Carr, who also spent five years as editor of the Washington City Paper, died on Thursday. He was 58.

Carr wrote about media for 25 years, the Times said, and joined the Times in 2002 to cover the magazine publishing industry, after having written for The Atlantic Monthly and New York magazine.

He died at the office, the Times reports.
