Toys ‘R’ Us fire investigated in Glen Burnie

WASHINGTON — Anne Arundel County fire officials are investigating a fire at a Toys ‘R’ Us in Glen Burnie.

On Jan. 15, shortly before 12 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a reported building fire at the toy store, located at 6711 Ritchie Highway North.

The first-arriving firefighters saw heavy smoke coming from the roof and entered the facility. Once inside, they saw heavy smoke and high heat conditions, prompting a second alarm.

The fire emanated from a merchandise rack, according to Anne Arundel County fire. The store’s sprinkler system slowed the fire and allowed all patrons to leave the store.

Damage to the structure is estimated at $250,000.
