Body of missing Loudoun Co. man found

WASHINGTON — The body of a 59-year-old Loudoun County man was found on Monday after he’d been reported missing.

Nathan Johnson, of the 800 block of Smarrtts Lanes NE in Leesburg, had not been seen or heard from since noon Sunday.

Johnson’s body was found in a remote area of Balls Bluff Park in Leesburg, according to a Leesburg police news release. A firearm was found nearby and a preliminary investigation finds Johnson died of a self-inflicted gunshot.

Fairfax Co. seeks to exempt Potomac River to protect water if Va. declares drought emergency

Northern Virginia remains under a drought watch, and Fairfax County leaders want to make sure there’s enough drinking water to go around if Virginia declares a drought emergency. The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors authorized Chairman Jeff McKay to write to Governor Abigail Spanberger, to request that the Potomac River be excluded from a Virginia drought-specific declaration, since Fairfax Water is dependent on the Potomac as its drinking water supply.
