LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky Utilities and Louisville Gas and Electric Co. say they expect to seek increases in their base rates later this month.

KU is seeking a $153 million revenue increase, or 9.6 percent. The company says a residential customer using an average of 1,200 kilowatt hours would see an increase of $11 per month if the Kentucky Public Service Commission approves the request.

LG&E said it expects to request a 2.7 percent increase in revenues, or $30 million, for its electric business and 4.2 percent, or $14 million, for the natural gas business. A residential customer using an average of 984 kilowatts per month would see a $2.74 monthly increase if the request is approved. A residential natural gas customer using an average of 57 centum cubic feet per month would pay $2.60 more.
