Interim Kansas coach Bowen changes play-callers

WACO, Texas (AP) — Kansas interim coach Clint Bowen is going with a new play-caller for the final five games of the season.

Bowen announced before Saturday’s game at No. 12 Baylor that wide receivers coach Eric Kiesau had been promoted to co-offensive coordinator alongside John Reagan and would call plays from the sideline against the Bears.

Former coach Charlie Weis, who was fired Sept. 28 after a 23-0 loss to Texas, hired Reagan in the offseason after handling play-calling duties himself for his first two seasons with the Jayhawks.

Reagan was brought in to implement a spread offense after Kansas struggled in Weis’ pro-style attack.

Kansas went into the game ranked last in the Big 12 in scoring offense, total offense and pass offense.
