CHICAGO (AP) — For the first time since late 2010, the average price for a gallon of gas is below $3. That’s according to oil analyst Patrick DeHaan of GasBuddy.com.

He says U.S. gas prices have fallen 34 cents in the last month to an average of $2.99 a gallon, a level last seen on Dec. 22, 2010.

That word comes a day after auto club AAA said that the average price of gasoline in the U.S. had hit $3 a gallon.

DeHaan says 47 states now have pump prices below the $3 mark.
