Police: NY man bit off part of another man’s ear

EVANS, N.Y. (AP) — Police say a New York man bit off part of another man’s ear during an unprovoked attack.

Police in the town of Evans, southwest of Buffalo, say they shocked John Pawlowski with a stun gun Tuesday when they found two men struggling on the front lawn of a home.

The 31-year-old was taken to a hospital for a mental evaluation and charged with assault, reckless endangerment and harassment.

It’s unknown whether he has a lawyer. A phone listing isn’t working.

Police say Pawlowski bit a groundskeeper’s face for no apparent reason, tearing off skin and part of his ear.

Pawlowski served six months in jail on a weapons charge in 2007 after he threatened Evans police officers with a loaded handgun after a high-speed chase.
