New Law Would Ban Puppy Mill Dogs – Councilmember George Leventhal will introduce a bill on Tuesday that would prohibit any retail pet store in Montgomery County from selling any dog or cat unless the store obtained the pet from an animal care facility or nonprofit rescue group. New Office Building Has First Tenant – A brand new office building in downtown Bethesda has its first tenant. Carr Properties’ 4500 East West Highway building will be the new home of RapidAdvance, a small business financing company that will move from 7316 Wisconsin Ave. The company will take up a full floor of the building, which hosted an open house last week. Leggett Opposes WSSC Fee Changes – County Executive Isiah Leggett thinks the WSSC should delay proposed changes that would mean fixed rates instead of fees based on gallons of water used. Leggett recommended the water and sewer utility instead raise its rates by 5 percent for the next fiscal year. [The Gazette]
