RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Randolph-Macon College is set for its star turn as the tiny liberal arts school hosts a congressional debate between two faculty members.

Republican Dave Brat, who rode a tea party-backed wave to national prominence by defeating former U.S. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in a summer primary, will debate issues Tuesday night with Democrat Jack Trammell at the school where they both teach.

Students have been scrambling to find tickets to the sold-out event.

Trammell, who teaches sociology, and Brat, an economics professor, have taken leave this semester to campaign.

Randolph-Macon has about 1,300 students and is located in Ashland. The college was named after two congressmen: John Randolph of Roanoke and Nathaniel Macon of North Carolina.
