Hendrix TD lifts Miami (Ohio) past Kent State 10-3

OXFORD, Ohio (AP) — Andrew Hendrix ran for 104 yards and the only touchdown as Miami (Ohio) held off Kent State 10-3 on Saturday.

Hendrix went 19 yards on a quarterback draw late in the first quarter to cap a nine-play, 88-yard drive for the RedHawks (2-7, 2-3 Mid-American Conference). The score came on the first play after a personal foul on Miami on a first-and-goal from the 5.

Kent State (1-7, 0-3) converted a fourth-and-6 from the Ohio 38 with 3:43 to play but Nick Holley was stopped for no gain by Zach Smierciak and Mitch Winters on fourth-and-1 from the 20 with 2:20 left. The previous play, a third-and-1, J’Terius stopped quarterback Colin Reardon.

Miami finished with 287 yards, two more than the Golden Flashes in the evenly matched game that saw just 26 seconds difference in time of possession.
