Remains found in Rockingham County

ELKTON, Va. (AP) — Police say remains found in Rockingham are believed to be those of a missing Page County woman.

The Page County Sheriff’s Office tells media outlets that the remains were found Wednesday at the end of road near Elkton, about 100 yards inside the Shenandoah National Park boundary.

Investigators believe the remains are those of 50-year-old Joy Schultz. She was last seen on Sept. 6.

Police on Wednesday charged Schultz’s stepson, 23-year-old George Zachary Schuppan, with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of murder. Her husband, 54-year-old George Harold Schultz, is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Both men are being held in the Page County Jail.
