NAGS HEAD, N.C. (AP) — Word has traveled quickly among those who seriously like to fish.

The Outer Banks has had a big run of red drum for the past couple of weeks.

The Virginian-Pilot of Norfolk reported (http://bit.ly/1rridRo) that more than 200 of the large fish have been caught at Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head in the past two weeks.

Plenty of big red drum are still being caught in Virginia, so anglers are sure there will be plenty more along the Outer Banks.

Jennette’s assistant director, Daryl Law, said the number of fish caught from the pier have been high. Law said they stopped counting one day after 75 fish had been caught. He said people were waiting for the 28 slots to fish at the end of the pier for red drum.
