Iowa St G Hallice Cooke set for hip surgeries

AMES, Iowa (AP) — Iowa State guard Hallice Cooke is having surgery to repair cartilage tears in both hips and will be out 6-8 months.

The Cyclones say Cooke, who is redshirting the 2014-15 season, will have surgery to repair one of his ailing hips in New York City on Monday. Cooke, who is from Union City, New Jersey, will have a second surgery four weeks later.

Cooke transferred from Oregon State in the offseason after averaging 8.2 points per game. He’ll have three years of eligibility left, starting with the 2015-16 season.
