WASHINGTON (AP) — The Homeland Security Department says there is no specific threat to the U.S. amid the ongoing shooting incident in Ottawa, Ontario.

The department said Wednesday that it is continuing to monitor the situation in the Canadian capital, and U.S. security efforts will be changed as necessary.

The shooting incident started Wednesday when a soldier was shot to death at a war memorial in the Canadian capitol. Gunshots were reported a short time later inside Parliament nearby.

Authorities say at least one gunman was killed.
