Garcia, Cal Poly run past Sacramento State 56-27

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Kori Garcia ran for 141 yards and a touchdown and Cal Poly scored 35-straight points in a 56-27 win over Sacramento State on Saturday night.

Brad Cornish hit a field goal from 44 yards out with 2:48 left in the first half, giving Sacramento State (4-4, 1-3 Big Sky Conference) a 20-14 lead.

Cal Poly (4-3, 3-1) needed just 1:58 to take the lead for good, however, as Chris Brown connected with Kenny Mitchell on a 3-yard touchdown pass to cap an eight-play, 68-yard drive.

Brandon Howe scored from 2 yards out, Garcia scored from 4, and Joe Protheroe added touchdown runs of 62 and 2 yards to make it 49-20 early in the fourth quarter.

Cal Poly ran for 393 yards and six touchdowns.

Sacramento State committed 11 penalties for 135 yards, and Garrett Safron completed 30 of 43 passes for 306 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
