Worker killed in accident at candy plant in Va.

BRISTOL, Va. (AP) — Police are investigating a fatal accident at a candy plant in Bristol, Virginia.

Bristol police tell media outlets that a worker died Wednesday from injuries suffered in what appeared to be an industrial accident at Helms Candy Co. Police identified the worker as 50-year-old Gary Bowers of Washington County, Virginia.

Police say Bowers was employed by At Work Personnel, a temporary employment agency.

Helms Candy officials declined to comment.
