Man sentenced in Va. on human trafficking charge

HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) — A Honduran man will spend an additional 10 years in prison following his conviction on a human trafficking charge.

Thirty-two-year-old Elin Coello-Ordonez pleaded guilty in June. He was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Harrisonburg.

U.S. Attorney Timothy J. Heaphy says in a news release that Coello-Ordonez forced a Honduran teenager to engage in prostitution. When she resisted, Coello-Ordonez physically abused her.

Heaphy says Coello-Ordonez already is serving a five-year federal sentence on an immigration-related charge. The new sentence will run consecutive to that term.
