Dempsey, Bradley join US lineup against Honduras

BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) — Captain Clint Dempsey and Michael Bradley were among six new starters in the starting lineup for the United States in Tuesday night’s exhibition against Honduras.

Jermaine Jones, Matt Besler, Graham Zusi and Nick Rimando also were inserted into the starting lineup. The sextet replaced Brad Guzan, Michael Orosco, John Brooks, DeAndre Yedlin, Joe Gyau and Landon Donovan, who made his 157th and final national team appearance in Friday’s 1-1 tie against Ecuador at East Hartford, Connecticut.

Rimando was in goal, with Tim Chandler at right back, Jones and Besler in central defense and Greg Garza at left back. It was a rare start on the back line for Jones, who usually plays midfield.

Diskerud was at the bottom of the midfield diamond in a 4-4-2 formation, with Zusi on the right, Bedoya on the left and Bradley at the top. Dempsey was paired with Altidore at forward.
