Md. medical marijuana getting down to business

BETHESDA, Md. (AP) — The business of medical marijuana is the focus of a meeting in Bethesda.

The Marijuana Policy Project and the National Cannabis Industry Association are sponsoring the seminar Wednesday to educate business people about Maryland’s new medical marijuana law.

Speakers include Sharon Bloom who is executive director of the state commission that is developing regulations for implementing the law passed by this year’s General Assembly.

The law will enable state residents suffering from certain qualifying conditions to use marijuana if their doctors recommend it.

The law authorizes 15 licensed marijuana growers in the state. The number of marijuana dispensaries hasn’t yet been determined.
