Victim of multi-vehicle wreck in Va. Beach ID’d

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) — Virginia Beach police have identified the victim of a fatal wreck involving a city school bus.

Police said Tuesday that 72-year-old Chu Tze Sawyer of Norfolk was a passenger in a minivan that collided with the school bus while attempting to cross a road. The minivan then hit a pickup truck stopped at a stop sign and slid through a metal fence.

The accident occurred Friday afternoon.

Police say in a news release that Sawyer later died at a local hospital. The minivan’s driver remains hospitalized.

The school bus’ driver and an adult passenger were evaluated at a local hospital and later discharged. The pickup’s driver declined treatment for minor injuries.

The accident remains under investigation.
