Man attacked at Angels Stadium is ex-officer

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a man who was beaten and left in critical condition in the Angels Stadium parking is a former Los Angeles police officer and his condition is improving.

Anaheim police say the 43-year-old Huntington Beach man and a relative were walking to a car after the Angels’ playoff game against the Kansas City Royals Friday night when they were attacked by three men for no apparent reason.

Anaheim police Lt. Bob Dunn says there wasn’t any argument before the attack and nobody has been arrested.

Los Angeles police say the man left the LAPD in 2012 but other details aren’t being released.

Dunn says the man was hospitalized in critical condition but he was listed in serious but stable condition on Monday and is expected to survive.
