DC police identify man slain by officers

WASHINGTON (AP) — D.C. police have identified a man who was fatally shot by officers who were serving a warrant.

Police identified the man late Sunday as 36-year-old Michael Abney of northeast Washington.

Police say officers were helping U.S. Marshals serve Abney with an arrest warrant in southeast Washington on Saturday night. Police say Abney pulled a handgun and refused to drop the weapon. A U.S. marshal and a Metropolitan Police Department officer opened fire, and Abney was killed.
