1 dead when car crashes into LA-area doughnut shop

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities say one adult is dead and four others are injured after a car crashed into a doughnut shop in Canoga Park.

The Los Angeles Times reports (http://lat.ms/1vAiAg3 ) that the injured in Saturday night’s crash are in critical or serious condition.

The Fire Department says the crash occurred shortly before 10 p.m. at Jolly Donuts at the intersection of De Soto Avenue and Roscoe Boulevard in Canoga Park.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Sgt. William Kelly says the driver had been transported to a hospital and would be evaluated to determine whether alcohol was involved.

He says it hasn’t been determined how many of the injured were inside the doughnut shop. They were taken to a hospital.

The newspaper says no further information was available.
