DELAND, Fla. (AP) — Sam Schrader ran for 193 yards and scored four touchdowns Saturday night, leading Butler to a 49-41 win over Stetson in the Pioneer League opener for both teams.
Schrader, who came into the game with just 96 career rushing yards, tied the game with a 25-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter. He would add rushing touchdowns of 57, 83 and 26 yards.
Ryan Tentler found Kegan Moore for a 65-yard touchdown late in the second quarter and Stetson (2-3) took a 20-14 lead into halftime.
Butler (3-2) opened the second half by sandwiching a pair of Matt Shiltz touchdown passes around a Stetson three-and-out and led 28-20 with 8:42 left in the third.
Tentler and Moore connected on a 24-yard score and, with the 2-point conversion, tied the game about 4 minutes later.
Schrader’s 83-yard score, on the next play from scrimmage, put Butler in the lead for good.
