Patriots sign Ja’Gared Davis from practice squad

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — The New England Patriots signed linebacker Ja’Gared Davis to the 53-man roster from the practice squad Saurday and released wide receiver Kenbrell Thompkins.

Davis began the year with New England and was released and signed to the practice squad before the start of the regular season. He spent the majority of his rookie season in 2013 on the Patriots’ practice squad and saw action in one regular-season game and both postseason games after joining the 53-man roster.

Thompkins caught six passes for 53 yards in two games this season. Last year, he had 32 receptions for 466 yards and four touchdowns in 12 games.

The Patriots will face Cincinnati on Sunday night.
