RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Republican Dave Brat, who upset then U.S. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in Virginia’s GOP primary, is keeping a busy schedule ahead of the November general election.

Brat said at a recent campaign event that the voter enthusiasm that helped him topple Cantor over the summer hasn’t waned. But Democrat Jack Trammell is accusing Brat of avoiding debates and being out-of-touch with the Virginia 7th Congressional District.

Brat has skipped some candidate forums but has agreed to at least two candidate debates.

The economic professor stunned the political world with his underdog victory over Cantor in June.
