DALLAS (AP) — Health officials in Texas say they’ve narrowed their monitoring to a group of about 50 people who may have had some level of exposure to the Ebola patient in Dallas.

Texas Health Commissioner David Lakey said Friday that all are meeting with health workers and having their temperatures taken daily and so far they are not showing symptoms of the virus. Ten are considered to be at higher risk and are being monitored more closely.

Health care workers initially contacted about 100 people who had direct or indirect contact with patient Thomas Eric Duncan or people close to him.

Crews are working to decontaminate the Dallas apartment where Duncan stayed before he was hospitalized Sunday. A Dallas County official apologized to the family Duncan was staying with for the amount of time it has taken to remove soiled items from the apartment.
