Gov. announces $1.2 million agricultural grant

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe is announcing new grant money aimed at helping the state’s organic and local food markets.

McAuliffe joined U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack at the State Fair of Virginia on Monday.

McAuliffe’s office said $1.2 million would be spent on 18 programs throughout the state aimed at promoting Virginia agriculture.

The money for the grants was authorized by passage of the 2014 Farm Bill.
