Cowboys cornerback Claiborne hurts knee vs Saints

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Dallas cornerback Morris Claiborne left the Cowboys’ game Sunday night against New Orleans with an unspecified knee injury.

It wasn’t immediately clear how Claiborne got hurt. His return was questionable.

The injury came days after Claiborne, the sixth overall pick in the 2012 draft, skipped a meeting and short walkthrough hearing he wouldn’t start against the Saints.

After leaving the facility Tuesday, he was back at practice Wednesday.

Because of the defensive formation, Claiborne was actually on the field for the first defensive play Sunday night. He came off on the second play.

Claiborne was later down on the ground away from the ball after a play with about 6 minutes left in the first quarter. He was helped off the field by people on both sides of him.
