Southern Illinois downs Western Illinois, 34-17

CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) — Mark Iannotti threw for 272 yards and two touchdowns, both of which went to MyCole Pruitt, to lead Southern Illinois over Western Illinois 34-17 on Saturday.

Pruitt, the only tight end in Missouri Valley Conference history with more than 2,000 receiving yards, had nine catches and 106 yards for Salukis (4-1, 1-0). Mika’il McCall and Malcolm Agnew each rushed for a touchdown.

Western Illinois (2-3, 0-1) took a 14-10 lead into halftime on a touchdown pass from Trenton Norvell to J.C. Baker and a 3-yard run by Devon Moore. However, Southern Illinois outscored the Leathernecks 24-3 in the second half. The Silukis have outscored opponents 83-13 in the second half in their five games this season.

Norvell threw for 271 yards and Lance Lenoir had 115 yards receiving to lead Western Illinois.
