The following economic reports will be issued in Washington (all times EDT), unless otherwise noted:

MONDAY: Commerce Department releases personal income and spending for August, 8:30 a.m.; National Association of Realtors releases pending home sales index for August, 10 a.m.

TUESDAY: Standard & Poor’s releases S&P/Case-Shiller index of home prices for July, 9 a.m.; The Conference Board releases the Consumer Confidence Index for September, 10 a.m.

WEDNESDAY: Institute for Supply Management releases its manufacturing index for September, 10 a.m.; Commerce Department releases construction spending for August, 10 a.m.

THURSDAY: Labor Department releases weekly jobless claims, 8:30 a.m.; Freddie Mac, the mortgage company, releases weekly mortgage rates, 10 a.m.; Commerce Department releases factory orders for August, 10 a.m.

FRIDAY: Labor Department releases employment data for September, 8:30 a.m.; Commerce Department releases international trade data for August, 8:30 a.m.; Institute for Supply Management releases its service sector index for September, 10 a.m.

SATURDAY: No events of note.

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama meets with India’s prime minister, Narendra Modi. They also are scheduled to meet Sept. 30.

WASHINGTON — Congress is on break until after the Nov. 4 elections.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 30

WASHINGTON — House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing on the White House security breach and the Secret Service.

BERLIN — Germany’s Federal Labor Agency releases September unemployment figures for Europe’s biggest economy.

Walgreen reports quarterly financial results before the market opens.

DETROIT — Automakers release vehicle sales for September.

PARIS — The world’s leading carmakers present their next best thing at the Paris Car Show, as the European auto industry — and the overall economy — tries to dig out of a prolonged slump.

NAPLES, Italy — European Central Bank’s governing council meets to set monetary policy for the Eurozone.
