VDOT to hold public meeting on I-81 bridge project

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (AP) — The public has an opportunity to weigh in on the proposed replacement of two Interstate 81 bridges in Montgomery County.

The Virginia Department of Transportation will hold a citizen information meeting on the proposed project from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Christiansburg Middle School.

The department plans to replace two bridges over Route 8 at the Christiansburg exit with wider bridges. The project includes realigning the interstate, modifying the exit 114 ramps and changing the road grade at the approaches to the bridges.

The department says the project is in the early stages of development.
