Stocks mixed…Oil falls in NYC, rises in London…Chrysler recall

NEW YORK (AP) — What will affect Wall Street next week? On Friday, it was the New York Stock Exchange debut of Alibaba Group. The major stock indexes ended little changed as investors watched the Chinese e-commerce giant surge 38 percent. The S&P 500 fell less than a point, to 2,010.The Dow edged up nearly 14 points to close at 17,279. The Nasdaq fell 13 1/2 points to 4,579.

NEW YORK (AP) — Oil traders are pushing down the price of oil in New York. Benchmark U.S. crude fell 66 cents to $92.41 a barrel Friday on the New York Mercantile Exchange as the dollar gained strength. Since oil trades in dollars, a stronger dollar makes it more expensive to traders holding other currencies. Meanwhile, Brent crude rose 69 cents, to $98.39 a barrel Friday in London.

DETROIT (AP) — Chrysler is recalling nearly 189,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees and Dodge Durangos in the U.S. to fix a fuel pump problem that can cause the SUVs to stall. The recall covers some 2011 models with 3.6-liter V6 or 5.7-liter V8 engines. Chrysler says a relay can fail, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the fuel pump relay for free starting Oct. 24.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A federal grand jury is issuing a new indictment against a former BP executive charged with obstructing a congressional investigation into the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Friday’s superseding indictment makes adjustments to existing obstruction of Congress and false statement charges against David Rainey, who faces a March 9 trial.

UNDATED (AP) — The E! TV channel says “Fashion Police” will continue without the late comedian Joan Rivers. The channel says it “thought long and hard” about it. E! says Rivers’ daughter, Melissa, who’s the show’s executive producer, agreed her mother would have wanted it to continue and gave her “blessing.” ”Fashion Police” will return next January with Golden Globes coverage.
