Off-duty officer shoots man in Baltimore County

MIDDLE RIVER, Md. (AP) — Baltimore County police are investigating a shooting involving an off-duty Baltimore city police officer in the Middle River area.

Police were called to investigate early Saturday after the off-duty officer got into a confrontation with two intoxicated people. Investigators say the two people damaged the mirror of the officer’s vehicle. When the off-duty officer confronted them, police say he was attacked.

Police say the officer had just left work. He told investigators that he used his stun gun on the suspects, but it did not stop the attackers. The off-duty officer then pulled out his gun and shot one of the men.

The injured person was taken to a hospital and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The second man was questioned and released. The off-duty officer suffered minor injuries.
