Police arrest man for Potomac Mills abduction

WASHINGTON – DNA evidence led police to the man who abducted and strangled a woman near Potomac Mills Mall in March.

Prince William County police have arrested Victor A. Serrano, 33 of no given address, on charges of strangulation and abduction with intent to defile. He was being held without bail.

Police say they found Serrano on Golansky Boulevard, about a mile away from where the woman was attacked near Potomac Mills Mall.

The 34-year-old woman was assaulted in a parking lot area near Potomac Mills Circle and Nazarene Way in Woodbridge. She had just gotten off work and was standing next to her vehicle when a man approached her asking for directions.

He grabbed the woman and began to choke her. They struggled, falling to the ground. The man demanded the woman’s car keys and tried to force her into the backseat of a vehicle before he fled the area, police say.
