Baltimore mayor announces report on immigrants

BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake will release a new report prepared by the New Americans Task Force on the economic impact of immigrants living in the city.

The report documents how immigrants contribute to the economic and cultural landscape of Baltimore. It will be released on Wednesday.

Rawlings-Blake established the New Americans Task Force last year. She has been outspoken about encouraging immigrants and refugees to move to Baltimore.

A U.S. Census Bureau report showed that in July 2012, Baltimore’s population increased by 1,100 residents, marking the first population growth in decades.
