BLUEFIELD, Va. (AP) — Police in Bluefield, Virginia, say two inmates who escaped a highway work detail have been captured.

Media outlets report the pair fled from a corrections officer along U.S. Route 460 on Tuesday afternoon.

Bluefield, Virginia, Police Chief Harry Cundiff says the men were later caught inside a Wal-Mart.

They were transported back to the police department.
