Va. department wins national procurement award

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Virginia’s Department of General Services has received a national award for the state’s electronic procurement system.

The department says it received the George Cronin Award for Procurement Excellence from the National Association of State Procurement Officials last week in Burlington, Vermont.

Virginia was recognized for its eVa mobile applications, which puts government bidding directly at the fingertips of users and gives business unit approvers real-time access to approve requisitions.

The department says that since its inception in 2001, eVA has saved more than $338 million on 4.7 million purchase orders.
