HILLSVILLE, Va. (AP) — State Police say a small, single-engine aircraft has made an emergency landing on Interstate 77 in southwest Virginia.

State Police spokeswoman Corinne N. Geller says the pilot sustained serious injuries that are not considered life-threatening after the landing Wednesday afternoon. He was transported to a local hospital.

The emergency landing occurred in Carroll County. An investigation is underway.
