U.Va. board to discuss ways to cut budget

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — The University of Virginia’s Board of Visitors will discuss ways to cut the school’s budget during meetings this week.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe has ordered higher education institutions to cut their state allocations by 5 percent for the current fiscal year and 7 percent for the next fiscal year.

U.Va. President Teresa A. Sullivan told The Daily Progress (http://bit.ly/1os9SfM ) in a recent interview that most students likely won’t feel the cuts.

The board is scheduled to meet Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Several students are scheduled to participate in a hearing Friday on sexual assault.

The board’s agenda also includes patient disclosure laws.
