Police make arrest in crash that killed 3 walking

TURLOCK, Calif. (AP) — Police have arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of driving under the influence in a crash in central California that killed three family members who were out for a walk.

Luis Miguel Cruz was booked into jail Tuesday and is also facing hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter charges.

It was not immediately clear whether he had an attorney.

Police say Cruz was behind the wheel of a speeding BMW that struck and killed three family members in Turlock over the weekend. Family members have identified the victims as 20-year-old Julia Flores, her 4-year-old son, Brian, and her 47-year-old mother-in-law, Elena Flores.

The BMW then hit a house. Police say Cruz and a passenger in the vehicle ran from the scene but were detained.
