Charges increased for in Guam baby hot car death

HAGATNA, Guam (AP) — Charges have increased to include negligent homicide for the parents of a Guam infant who died after being left in a hot car.

Prosecutors previously charged Shawn Travis Llagas Cruz and Victoria Lynn Siaotong with child abuse and leaving a child unattended in a vehicle after their 4-month-old son died last month.

Pacific Daily News (http://ow.ly/B6a9u ) reported Thursday prosecutors have since added negligent homicide.

According to court documents, the parents both assumed someone else had taken the infant out of the car. The documents say they later found their son inside the car, whimpering and foaming at the mouth.

Documents say that Cruz assumed the baby would be OK and didn’t call 911 or take him to the hospital.

The couple have yet to be arraigned and enter pleas.
