Bill Clinton to attend fundraiser for Nunn

ATLANTA (AP) — Former President Bill Clinton will be heading to Georgia to raise money for Senate candidate Michelle Nunn, who is working to win a key seat for Democrats this year.

A Nunn campaign spokesman said Tuesday that Clinton will be attending a Sept. 13 fundraiser for Nunn at the Atlanta home of R&B artist Usher.

The race is among a dozen with national implications as Republicans seek to gain control of the Senate. They need to pick up six seats and can’t afford to lose the seat held by retiring Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss.

Democrats consider Nunn, the daughter of former Sen. Sam Nunn, among their best recruits nationally. She’s a strong fundraiser and has crafted a centrist message aimed at wooing independents. She faces Republican businessman David Perdue in November.
