8-year doping ban for British weightlifter

LONDON (AP) — British weightlifter Vasyl Kruk has been banned for eight years following a second doping violation.

The U.K. Anti-Doping agency says Kruk tested positive for three banned steroids in an out-of-competition doping control on Feb. 24, 2014. He previously served a two-year doping ban from 2012 to 2014.

UKAD says Kruk, who is not a top-level lifter, is banned from all competition until May 2022.

UKAD legal director Graham Arthur says “an eight-year ban illustrates the seriousness with which these offenses are taken.”
