BEIJING (AP) — China has seen its latest deadly attack on students and teachers at an elementary school.

Officials say a man stabbed children and adults with a fruit knife at a school in central China today, killing three children and injuring six other people before jumping to his death.

The attack happened on the first day of school after summer break. The man was identified as a parent.

China has suffered a series of attacks on kindergartens and grade schools, and the culprits often are identified as mentally ill or as being angry at society.
