3 dead, hundreds wounded in clashes

ISLAMABAD (AP) — Three people have been killed and nearly 400 wounded in clashes between protesters and Pakistani police today.

The battles occurred as thousands of anti-government protesters tried to raid the official residence of Pakistan’s prime minister.

The overnight violence has raised the stakes in the two-week sit-in to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over allegations of voter fraud in the election that brought him into office last year in Pakistan’s first democratic transfer of power.
