Rangers place Adduci on concussion list

HOUSTON (AP) — The Texas Rangers have placed first baseman/outfielder Jim Adduci on the seven-day concussion list and purchased the contract of infielder/outfielder Ryan Rua from Triple-A Round Rock.

When Rua starts at first base on Friday night at Houston, he will be the 59th player the Rangers have used this season, tying the major league record set by the Padres in 2002 and 2008 and Indians in 2002.

Rua hit .306 with 18 homers and 74 RBIs combined in Double- and Triple-A this season.

Adduci was injured Thursday after hitting his head on the warning track and wall making a catch in foul territory in the fourth inning. Right-hander Phil Irwin was released to make room on the 40-man roster for Rua.
