WASHINGTON – Two young boys have been charged with setting Tom Clancy’s former home on fire.
The Baltimore Sun and WBAL report that the boys, ages 12 and 14, are believed to have started the Aug. 22 blaze.
The two-story, Calvert County home was vacant. The fire caused an estimated $149,000 in damage and no one was injured, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshall.
The Sun reports the boys started the fire by setting on fire combustible items in the living room. Two people were spotted leaving the structure just before the fire was discovered about 5 in the afternoon.
Clancy’s estate owns the property, where the best-selling author lived. He was known for his military political thrillers and died in 2013.
