Va. couple’s Medicaid fraud trial begins

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — A Suffolk couple is on trial on charges of defrauding Medicaid.

W. Wayne Perry Jr. and his wife, Angela Perry, are charged with health care fraud, aggravated identity theft and several other counts.

W. Wayne Perry Jr. owns Community Personal Care Inc. in Norfolk and his wife worked for him. The Perrys are accused of submitting fraudulent claims to the Virginia Medicaid program and receiving more than $1 million in payments. They also are accused of altering office records to conceal the payments.

The Virginian-Pilot (http://bit.ly/1nHtHPJ ) reports that the jury heard opening arguments Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Norfolk.
